TEFL Volunteer English Teaching Jobs in Lima, Peru

Britannia Teachers Peru logo

Britannia Teachers Peru provide vulnerable children, teenagers and adults in Peru with very cheap or free English Classes delivered by volunteer native-speaking English Teachers.

We are working in partnership with an organisation called Juventud Para Cristo Peru who work with youngsters in some of the Lima's most deprived city districts and all over Peru. They have arranged many work placements for us, mostly in Lima at the moment, but we are looking to expand to other parts of Peru soon.

This is a new project based in Peru and co-ordinated from the UK and Lima.

Volunteering with us is a life-changing experience. We have a large support team in Peru to assist the volunteers 24 hours a day should they need it. The Peruvian co-ordinators are all locals and have experience of dealing with volunteers. The people who they work with are extremely needy and extremely grateful for the volunteers' help.

The teachers will be working Monday to Friday with 2-4 lessons a day, 1 or 1.30 hours each lesson. But this is variable and flexible.

The Volunteers have to pay a once-only fee of 250 Euros no matter how long they volunteer for. You will be housed with local families and the cost will be 15 Euros a week which includes breakfast and evening meal.

The Volunteer Teachers only need to have a basic level of Spanish, but the more they have the better. They will enjoy their experience much more if they can converse with their students and host family in their adopted language. We can offer inexpensive Spanish lessons for 5 Euros per hour once in Peru.

In addition, if you want to learn some Spanish before you, you may find low-cost online Spanish lessons from Latin America helpful.

The minimum period we accept volunteers for is one month; they can also stay for 3 or 6 or 12 months. The minimum age limit is 18.

Volunteers should plan to arrive a minimum of 1-2 weeks before the start of their agreed volunteer period to acclimatize to life in Peru.

As you will be working with vulnerable children and teenagers, all teachers will have to undergo an interview and CRB check before being invited to volunteer. You will also be supplied with a company t-shirt and I.D badge.

Our UK office is based in Bedfordshire & our Peruvian office is located in Lima. We are registered as a non-profit organisation with Companies House in London (Reg.No. 07588162).

All teachers who finish their contracted time with us will receive a certificate of completion, a letter of recommendation from us and a certificate of volunteering from our Peruvian partners JPC (Juventud Para Cristo Peru).
