Kai En introduction
Kai En English Language Training Center is a joint venture language training school in Shanghai. Kai En, established in 1996, was one of the first entrants into the language training market in Shanghai.
The founders, Brian McCloskey and Ken Carroll were involved in managing language schools in Taiwan before relocating to Shanghai to establish Kai En. The name Kai En is a combination of their Chinese names.
Kai En has established a strong reputation for delivering high quality language training in the local language education market.
In order to retain control of academic quality and protect the Kai En brand, the founders decided not to franchise with local partners. All Kai En centers are managed to ensure a focus on teaching quality.
Kai En has five centers throughout Shanghai as of writing [June 2007] from which over 7,000 students graduate annually.
We have a teaching team of between 60 and 70 full-time native speaking professional EFL teachers and over 20 additional Chinese EFL instructors.
Although Kai En has experienced rapid growth in the past few years, the company has managed to retain its focus on recruiting and retaining excellent employees.
Many original local staff have been with us since the school's inception, becoming valued members of the Kai En team.

Essential Requirements for the General English Department
- A bachelors degree
- A recognized TEFL / TESOL qualification
- A minimum of 1-2 years' teaching experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent people skills and a team player
- Sound computer skills
- A professional attitude with a positive personality
Kai En Corporate Training Division
In 1998 Kai En established a corporate training department delivering business English courses to the corporate sector.
Kai En Corporate focuses on working with companies locally to design and deliver tailor made courses.
These courses are delivered on the client's premises with the objective of assisting our clients improve their business operations and profitability.
We have worked with numerous Fortune 500 companies and have been successful in improving the English communication ability of entry level, middle, and senior managers.
The department has grown steadily and has built a solid reputation among international companies in the Shanghai area.
We have between 8-10 full-time corporate trainers who deliver business English courses throughout the Shanghai area.

Requirements for the Corporate Division:
- A bachelors degree
- A recognized TEFL / TESOL qualification
- A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience
- Candidates with some business experience are preferred
- A professional attitude and willingness to improve teaching skills
- Cultural awareness
Preferred
- A postgraduate qualification in TESOL, ELT, or applied linguistics
- A diploma-level qualification in TEFL/TESOL
- Experience teaching Business English in China
